EUSKAL LINGE - HISTORYThe Euskal Linge adventure started out with the Etxeberrias, a family of artisans who became a benchmark of excellence thanks to their outstanding work with leather, one of the most ancient traditions in the Basque Country. However, this was not the road their children chose. Instead, availing themselves of the family’s tremendous fount of knowledge in crafts techniques and their passion for Basque traditions, they decided in the 1990s to embark on recovering another typical feature of the Basque Country: home textiles (Linge Basque). Starting out is always difficult. Why rescue traditions from the past when they don’t apply any more to modern society? But the team’s perseverance enabled them to overcome any initial reticence. Recognition came in January 2006 with the exhibition of Euskal Linge products at the international Paris exhibition, Maison et Objet, where the perfect alliance between tradition and the innovative, contemporary design of their Basque textiles proved to be a huge success. The sheer quality guarantees customer loyalty and the brand has progressively become a benchmark in its class; a product made up of a smidgeon of history, a big dose of tradition and a whole lot of technical expertise is the key to the success of Euskal Linge. Today, Euskal Linge products can be found decorating homes and hotels. The company also has its own stores on the main shopping streets of Biarritz and St. Jean de Luz. A new venture has been the progressive incorporation of new products that help to recreate the atmosphere of a genuine Basque home, combining tradition with new trends. |
